Ginny Young graduated from the University of Hawaii with a BA in Sociology and she received her Professional Certificate from the University of Oregon. She taught in San Jose, CA and has taught in elementary schools in Honolulu. She received her Secondary Social Studies certificate and her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from UH. She is a retired DOE resource teacher from the Honolulu District Office. Ginny is the 2009 President-elect of the United Chinese Society of Hawaii (UCS) which was established in 1884. One of the missions of UCS is to perpetuate the Chinese culture. To that end, UCS annually sponsors its Model Mother/Father Award, Model Citizen Award, Qing Ming Observance at Manoa Cemetery, and Zhongshan Summer Camp for Students. Its current project is 220 Years at Sandalwood Mountain 1789-2009 or the 220th Anniversary of Chinese in Hawaii 1789-2009.
